After recently looking at Sam’s website, I was inspired :)

I know its the same photo… but I like them both.

Hola:
Jeff and I just got back from our first visit to the circus. It was kinda weird at first. The cab took us acoss town to a deserted place off a road. We walked in and the tiny building was really small. It looked abandoned. Across from the building there was traces of perhaps what used to be another building or some sort of play ground. As we where starting to wonder if the cab driver was playing a joke on us we noticed a professional looking women walk out of the “abandoned” building. We asked her where “Circo del Mundo” was. She didn’t speak English but directed us down a long dirt road that was lined with tall trees that appeared to be straight out of a Mark Twain book. After walking for awhile we saw a large blue tent in the distance and could only hope that the circus actually existed. We found the office and walked in. At first it looked abandoned too, but there was a man in a small office. We asked for Alejandra, the circus coordinator. Luckily she was there and spoke a little English. We hadn’t heard from her since July and was so happy to discover that she was still eccentric about us taking pictures of the school. She explained to us how things work and what they do on a day to day basis. We are going on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to start shooting. We will be shooting there until the 22nd of November when they’ll be having a huge performance and then we’ll be going to Puerto Montt for our midterm and meet back up with the group.
I’m so excited that we have a story and I think that they are even more excited to have us there. Finally, after almost a week we have a secure story :)
Just some street pictures…

So I made it to Chile safe. It is so beautiful here. We’re staying in a hostal in Valparaíso which is on a hill overlooking the ocean. The flight was really long, but definitely worth it. I can’t wait to go out and take more photos but we’ve been warned that we shouldn’t take our cameras out. It’s obvious that we’re definitely being noticed by the locals and so far everyone has been really nice to us. Last night we went to a bar and a blues band was playing. The singer was incredible. Tonight they’re going to have reggae which I’m really excited to see. I’m so excited that there is so much music.
I’ll be posting every opportunity I get. I miss everyone back home :)

Just spent a week in Wheatland, California shooting a documentary. This is just a hint of what is to come.

This photo essay is a portrait series about people. There are approximately 6,700,000,000 people in the world today. Although we are all very different and live very different lives, there is one thing that we all do everyday…. We all use the restroom. Although this act is something that in our society we don’t talk about often it is impossible for us to deny. These Portraits are thriving to illustrate not the act itself, but how although all 6,700,000,000 of us are essentially the same, there are many things that make us unique and different; each in our own way. All of these portraits are an attempt to capture the little details that makes us all who we are. Some simply mock what we have been assumed to be, while others embrace the true identity of the individual.
In each photo there is a true sense of the individual and each photo has a quark about the person. Twenty-one-year-old, Jessica Kirk, was born and raised in Ventura, Calif . She has a sparkling personality and loves the nightlife. She has a wardrobe that would make any girl envious and loves to flaunt her witty charisma. Jessica is 4 foot 3 inches tall and has been nicknamed as ‘Little Baby Jessica’. For her portrait, Jessica is shown in the restroom of a club in downtown Ventura in her fancy heels. To embrace her short height, her feet are dangling a good five inches from the floor.
Another photo depicts Miss Andrea Frediani who is a 20-year-old student at Brooks Institute. Andrea moved to Brooks a year and a half ago to pursue her passion of photojournalism. Since Andrea was a little girl she has been pursuing ballet. In her portrait she is wearing her point shoes. Ballet is and will continue to be a significant roll in her life.
There are many little things about every person that makes them unique. We are dancers, gamers, scientists, drinkers, fans, skateboarders, designers, patriots, believers, and we all have one thing in common… Everybody poops!

Last weekend I was honored to be selected to participate in the first annual VJ Multimedia Workshop that was sponsored by my school, Brooks Institute of Photography. The workshop lasted from Thursday til Sunday non stop. We had 24 hours to shoot a story and a day and a half to edit it. I have learned so much and was able to meet many well known photographers and get their advice. I just wanted to share my work with you.
